Sauganash School for the Young Years was founded in 1974 as a non-profit school and continues to serve our community with the support of the Sauganash Community Church.
Program Director, Mrs. Kristie Hagopian, has been teaching the young children in our community for the last 33 years. It is a testament to the program that former students are now bringing their own children to experience the same educational foundation that they had as young preschoolers. Families in the neighborhood are grateful that our preschool continues to thrive.
Our classroom is carefully designed to enhance the creative development needs of young children. The room arrangement is child sized, placed at a child's level, and developmentally appropriate for the ages of 3 to 5 years old. Young Years has demonstrated a commitment to providing a high quality program for young children and their families. Our focus is placed on the quality of interactions among teachers and children and the developmental appropriateness of the curriculum. Health and safety, staff qualifications, physical environment, and administration are all reviewed annually.
We believe that children grow faster and learn more during the first five years of development than at any other time in their lives. Our goals for the children in our care consist of four main areas: social, emotional, intellectual, and physical. A positive, nurturing preschool setting lays the foundation for success in all future school experiences.
